Hello friends! My name is Kristina Gerk, and I am in my final year of the Bachelor of Education program at UNBC. I am a born and raised Okanagan girl, with a passion for learning, and experiencing new things. My passion for teaching became prevalent during my Undergraduate degree while teaching a Freshman Biology lab, and has also stemmed through my desire to become a lifelong learner. My desire to teach further evolved during the few years I spent in the Northwest Territories volunteering after earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and eventually teaching at a rural school. During this time, I fell in love with sharing my knowledge and connecting students to new ways of learning and sharing their passions through their work. I love sharing my passion for all things Biology, and integrate Place-Based and Experiential-Placed learning into all of my future classrooms. Feel free to take a look around my professional portfolio to find out more about me and how I integrate the First Peoples Principles of Learning, and BC Teachers’ Council Professional Standards into my classroom.
