Standard 7
Standard 7: Educators engage in professional learning.
In order for me to become the best educator I can be, I need to be constantly adjusting and evolving my practice to support my students. This is best done by attending and engaging in diverse learning opportunities that support my growth as an educator.

A retweet from my Twitter account.
If there is anything that I love to do, it’s to learn! This past year I attended the annual PG Educational Spring Fling and learned a great deal about student learning and how I can make a difference as an educator. I partook and was deeply involved in the “Day in the Life of a TTOC” as this has been something I’ve been working on in SD57. Being a TTOC means that I need to be prepared for a call with any grade level. Attending this workshop was a phenomenal learning experience and resource collection for activities to utilize when TTOCing. I learned a lot about what to be prepared for, and additional resources I can use to supplement student learning.
My professional learning does not exclusively exist on Professional Development days. One weekends I either participate or lurk on the Sunday night twitter #bcedchat. From these chats, I’ve been able to follow and learn a great deal from seasonal professionals that are more than willing to share their learning experiences and advice. I’ve learned about topics, such as Gamification, Inclusivity, First People’s Principles,
I also have been a constant “lurker” on twitter, learning a great deal from the and observing that current teaching professionals are bringing into their classroom to help students.
As a future educator, I like to participate in in learning opportunities that will enhance my practice and potentiality for student learning. Fortunately, the UNBC School of Education hosts many workshops and learning opportunities for Teacher Candidates, so I’ve been taking full advantage of the proximity of these workshops. I have been a part of workshops covering FNESC, Assessment Webinar Series etc. Each of these have added to my practice, and provided me with ideas of what I can do in the future.
